Introducing VR Robo, a program designed for those new to investing or merely seeking a low-cost solution to build their wealth.
If you haven’t yet heard, “automated investing” is a technology-driven investment method that uses computer algorithms and mathematical models to automatically build/manage your investment portfolio (based on a survey you submit about yourself and your goals). Automated investing platforms are referred to as “robo” advisors.
For the purposes of our solution (VR Robo), we partner with Betterment—a leading robo-advisor platform—to give you access to a variety of diversified exchange-traded funds (ETFs). These are similar to mutual funds but often less expensive, an appealing feature especially for novice investors and those who want to build their wealth in a relatively inexpensive manner.
What makes our solution a little different from others is that there’s no need to upgrade or maintain a significant balance in your account to enjoy ongoing access to a CFP® professional dedicated to your account. You’ll also receive a Betterment account review on an annual basis.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
The minimum initial investment is $1,000. There's no requirement to maintain a high balance to keep ongoing access to your dedicated CFP® professional.
-
The annual advisory fee is 0.75% of your total account balance. Fees are calculated and pulled directly from your Betterment account at the end of each month, with itemized statements available online through the Betterment platform. There are no separate planning fees, transaction fees, or hidden charges from Vision Retirement.
-
Your accounts are custodied at Betterment, an independent third-party robo-advisor platform. Vision Retirement never takes custody of your money. You can log in to Betterment directly at any time to view balances, statements, and activity.
-
ETFs are just like mutual funds but require less human oversight and trading; they're thus often automated and less expensive than other investment opportunities.
-
Once you enroll, Betterment captures information about you and your goals to set appropriate allocations, then executes trades and runs automated features: portfolio rebalancing (to keep your investments diversified and aligned with your target allocation), tax-loss harvesting (which can help offset taxes on investment gains), and dividend reinvestment (which puts your dividends back to work in the portfolio). Together, these keep your account diversified, tax-efficient, and on strategy.
-
Your dedicated CFP® professional serves as your point of contact for questions about your account, your goals, and how VR Robo fits into your broader financial picture. You'll also receive a formal Betterment account review on an annual basis to make sure your allocation and goals remain aligned. If your situation grows more complex over time, your advisor can help you evaluate whether a different Vision Retirement offering makes sense.
-
Yes. Vision Retirement is a Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) held to a fiduciary standard, meaning we are legally required to act in your best interest at all times — not just at the point of sale. This obligation applies to every offering, including VR Robo.
-
VR Robo is a lower-cost, technology-driven solution built around ETFs on the Betterment platform. It carries a 0.75% annual fee, has a $1,000 minimum, and includes an annual review with a dedicated CFP® professional. Fiduciary Investment Management (FIM) is our most customized offering: actively-managed portfolios that can include ETFs, mutual funds, and individual securities, with quarterly one-on-one reviews. FIM's fee maxes out at 1.25% of total account value and requires a $10,000 minimum. VR Robo is designed for novice investors or those seeking a hands-off, lower-cost solution; FIM is designed for clients seeking active management and deeper ongoing engagement.
-
You can withdraw money from your account (using the Betterment app or their web-based platform) at any time and in the absence of additional fees. Withdrawals generally take about 4 to 5 business days to process. There are no lock-up periods or exit fees from Vision Retirement.
