A Few of Her Credentials
Joanne’s dream drove her to earn a degree in Finance from the University of Scranton with a concentration in mathematics. She then fulfilled her aspirations by starting a successful career with Goldman Sachs, and then later worked with AIG Investment Advisors.
If you could live anywhere, where would it be?
I’d lean towards Southern California (the San Diego area) since I have extended family living there. Winters are also much more tolerable than New Jersey. Spending my summers in Italy would also be on my wish list, considering I’m 100% Italian (Joanne’s grandmother was from Corleone, a town notorious for being home to several mobsters, so we’re smart enough not to ask for specifics!).
If you can have one meal, what would it consist of?
Pizza. Either Margherita style or Sicilian with anchovies.
What do you like to do in your free time?
I like going for long walks, crafts (primarily needlepoint and quilting), mat pilates that doesn’t use a reformer, and spending time with family. I also enjoy reading; my favorite books are The Bridges of Madison County and The Shoemaker’s Wife. My favorite author is Adriana Trigiani.
Who is your biggest hero?
My mom, especially since she taught me several life lessons (her being a teacher made it easier for me to learn). One of those lessons was cooking but being resourceful about it, either by using whatever ingredients we had in the house and making something of it or choosing something fresh in the supermarket and making a meal around it. She also helped prepare my brother and me for adversity in our 20s as she was always positive, even while she fought a terminal illness.
What would you do with your Mega Millions winnings?
First, I’d ensure my family is set for life. Then, I’d spend ample time at each of my top three travel destinations: Italy, Greece, and Hawaii.
What are some of your most memorable moments?
The birth of my three children, visiting my daughter in London during her study abroad program, spending summers on the beach in Fairfield, Connecticut until I was 21, and getting my first job out of college in New York City.
